ABSTRACT

The key objective of this chapter is to analyze the significance of the living and working conditions of migrant workers as they relate to the rationalization of post-migration decisions. In the preceding chapter, I addressed the pre-migration issue of financing and we now turn to living and working issues of the initial phase of the post-migration process, which migrant workers face immediately after arriving at their destination countries. In these new environments, migrant workers encounter innumerable challenges in living and working conditions which may often be considered as exploitative by every measure of human rights standards.
