ABSTRACT
This chapter:
explores the relationship between sports-based interventions and alcohol use and misuse;
reviews the growing trend for sport to be used in health and welfare programmes that encourage young (usually male) people to make better choices in relation to alcohol use;
considers the contradictory discourses that surround the use of ‘sport’ in health, welfare, recovery and treatment programmes.
