ABSTRACT

106The Richardson House is located in the Melbourne suburb of Toorak, six kilometres south east from the city. The distinctively irregular shape and relatively small size of the site reveals the degree of difficulty that initially informed the design project. Located at the end of a cul-de-sac and squeezed between the street and the four surrounding sites, this ‘quasi-triangular’ urban leftover fragment is part of a subdivision of an old garden with large existing trees and traversed by a dry creek bed.
