ABSTRACT

Gruelling! That one word might best describe this final experience and the measure of performance the recruits are about to give. The unique aspect of the 30-miler is that, unlike the preceding tests, it never gets rehearsed, and for that reason it causes great anticipation and anxiety. The run is an extreme test of team spirit, team bonds and collective willpower, pushing exhausted and painful bodies and mental attitude to the limit. After a year's preparation, the recruits are ready. The 30-mile run is the most talked about challenge and is solely responsible for most of the trepidation that recruits have been experiencing over the past 2 weeks.
