ABSTRACT

National parks and other protected zones are the most attractive areas of recreational and tourism activity due to their natural values. As far as individual tourism is concerned, the tourism function of Kampinos National Park has regional character. The park is mostly visited by Warsaw inhabitants, especially from the districts which are nearest the park, that is, Bielany, Bemowo, Zoliborz and Wola. The fact that most of the visitors live in Warsaw and that they come to the park more than six times a year indicates that the inhabitants of the capital of Poland treat Kampinos National Park as a city park. The respondents indicated that physical activity was definitely the most important benefit resulting from spending time in the park. Educational trails are an important element supporting implementation of the educational function in national parks. All over the world protected zones, including national parks, are increasingly burdened with tourism traffic.
