ABSTRACT

The Krakow agglomeration comprises the central city of Krakow and the surrounding urbanised communes, including Wieliczka, where the agritourism farm under study is located. The agritourism facility Amigowka is a settlement located in the village of Mietniow, at the Wieliczka Foothills, the first heights in the Carpathians, 18 km from Main Market Square in Krakow and only 4 km from the centre of Wieliczka. Foreign visitors come to see Krakow and Wieliczka and they are the chief consumers of agritourism services. As far as cooperation with local societies is concerned, Piotr Senkus stressed the considerable role of the Local Action Group Wieliczka Countryside in the development of agritourism in the entire Wieliczka region. Experience in agritourism, cooperation with local tourism organisations, the location of the farm near the metropolitan centre - Krakow with about 760,000 inhabitants and Wieliczka with 21,000 inhabitants - and the willingness to gain new experience were the main factors.
