ABSTRACT

The terms ‘tourism’ and ‘tourist’ became popular only in the nineteenth century. The term ‘tourist’ will be interpreted as a person for whom the trip and staying away from the place of their permanent residence are more important than their consequences. The personality-developing potential of free time with all its possible forms of use makes it an important subject of pedagogy as a science focusing on intentionally organised conditions for personal development and social change. The education of a human within their lifetime is the subject of pedagogy in broad terms. The aim of human education is to support the development of an individual’s personality. In the analysis of the pedagogical aspects of recreational activity there was strong emphasis on the role of deliberately organised social activity based on interactions between the educator and pupil, where the aim is to induce changes in the pupil’s personality according to the plan.
