ABSTRACT
Growing up as a young Sikh in the UK, I often heard statements from gurdwara platforms lamenting the fact that young Sikhs were not interested in Sikhism. Speakers would often complain that young people were not attending gurdwaras, were not interested in learning Punjabi, and were failing to retain the Sikh identity, with parents—particularly mothers—being blamed for not educating their children about their faith.
