ABSTRACT

Gods and religions travel on the shoulders of migrants. Migrations of various types give religions their geographic and social place in the world. Immigration over time has impacted the religious and ethnic profiles of countries, their competing group and national identities, and the resulting ethos of individual national cultures. Current migration patterns that developed in the last half of the twentieth century create new religious realities in Europe and North America. Migrations of Indian Christians documented in this book are a relatively recent, largely unnoticed and significant aspect of recent population movements and resulting cultural adaptations.
