ABSTRACT

Among the many and great kingdoms which adjoin China, ZA running along it from above the lake whence originates the river Thanas on the European side, which belongs to Scythia and is part of it. It seems clear that China borders on the end of Almayne; and that whereas Russia is part of Scythia on its European side, the end of it seems clearly to be a part of China. The first kingdom that doth confine with it on the sea-side of India, is one that is called Cauchim China, which hath about an hundred leagues little more or less along the sea-coast. The people of this kingdom in their apparel, policy and government, do use themselves like the people of China. The Laos came to Camboja down a river many days' journey, the which is very large and they say has its origin in China, as do many others which run into the sea of India.
