ABSTRACT

In chapters 4 and 5 we looked at two of the ‘dimensions’ of strategic planning. We considered why it was important to understand the context in which the strategic plan was being developed, including the reason why an organisation would decide to undertake this at that particular time. We saw how the context influenced the approach taken in planning the process and explored the power of questions, the importance of conversations and some of the challenges of navigating a strategy journey. The fundamental theme running through all of these is that people are at the heart of strategic planning.
