ABSTRACT

In the previous two chapters we have discussed the importance of achieving understanding and ownership of the strategic plan across the organisation and developing an organisation-wide critical momentum behind its implementation. We saw that the way in which work on strategic initiatives is organised, and how progress is measured, needs to be thought through to ensure a clear focus on the strategic objectives, enabling the organisation to adapt these if circumstances require. Using the objectives and themes of the strategic plan as a consistent frame of reference in conversations and actions will continually reinforce its position at the heart of the organisation and will reinforce the energy and focus needed to sustain implementation.
