ABSTRACT

The pace of innovation has been very rapid in recent years bringing about huge changes both in the way we live and in the way business is conducted. Unsurprisingly, the internet combined with broadband, browsers and HTML was ranked first in the list, as an innovation that created an industry and subsequent new technologies as well as improving communications and enhancing the standard of living and working regardless of one's location. The innovation between now and 2040 is that it will almost certainly be even more radical and even more powerful in its impact on peoples' lives than that of the last 30 years. They are supercomputer, Artificial Intelligence, Biological Computers; Cloud computing, Fabbers, RepRap, and nano-technology. At present the there are several options for alternative means of power generation and propulsion. Today it is far from clear which of these technologies will take hold in the marketplace and which of them will either.
