ABSTRACT
Verification of requirements in the commercial aircraft industry is an extremely complex process. Verification of certification-related requirements is controlled by Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and thoroughly conducted and monitored as shown in Table 10.1. These requirements and the balance of the requirements are verified by a variety of methods, including ground tests, simulations, analyses, examinations, and flight test. Similarity analyses are based on flight histories of specific components and subsystems. In any event, the SE principle of complete verification is paramount. This chapter will show how 100 percent verification is accomplished for aircraft systems. It also shows how traditional aircraft processes, such as certification, are incorporated into the SE verification process.
