ABSTRACT

About ½ past 11 oclock yesterday Nadbuck told us that from the point at which we were the river made a great bend to the eastward, and that if we went on we should not reach it before dark. As I had never found the old Man deceive me, I thought it prudent to halt where we had good feed. We made an early start this morning and halted at our present encampment at 1. We ran on a north north west course 12 Miles, the greater part of the way over tolerably hard plains. The ground however in places was rotten and full of holes. There was no visible change in the appearance of the Country altho the trees on the flats were larger, and we felt that the Country was imperceptibly changing.
