In 2000, the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, National Cheng Kung University, formed a research team to execute a study which was funded by the Aviation Safety Council of the Taiwanese Government. The project was called Human Factors in Flight Safety – Study of Crew Resource Management and Corporate Safety Culture (Lu et al. 2000). The goal of this study was to evaluate the status and effectiveness of crew resource management (CRM) training in Taiwan. This team was assisted by a team of anthropologists from Wayne State University in Detroit, including Dr. Allen W. Batteau, Capt. Alejandro Perez, and Ms. Carolyn Psenka.
