ABSTRACT

Introduction Social work is facing ethical and operational challenges that emerge from the need to pursue sustainable development in all its dimensions (economic, social, political, cultural, environmental, territorial, human). This chapter is based on research with the objective of systematizing the conceptual dimensions of ecological sustainability for integrative communities by analyzing the concept of the eco-neighbourhood and the intervention of social work within a multifocal perspective (Lee 2001). With the Integrated Community we refer to a programme of sustainable territorial development. It contemplates the realization of socioeconomic diagnostics, as well as an Integrated Management Plan in order to guide social investment in a coordinated and integrated manner with the communities and needs of each territory.
