ABSTRACT

Now that China’s reform has gone on for more than a dozen years, and has been extended to cover such things as enterprises, public finance, taxation, the financial industry, foreign exchange, foreign trade, social security, and so on, people generally assume that price reform is pretty much accomplished. Price reform represents both the basis for the market reform of all the above, and a prerequisite for their reform. Even if we have not completed the task, people think, at the very least, we can declare the completion of a major chapter in the process.
