ABSTRACT

This final chapter completes presentation of the book’s analytical framework and analysis process, which provides a neutral tool to examine tracks. These are put into practice to analyze recording elements in considerable detail and at all levels of perspective. Included are the analysis of timbre, distance positioning, image size and placement, environment qualities, loudness balance and contour, and timbral balance. Numerous and varied tracks are analyzed to unravel the ways these and other recording elements shaped them, including different versions and mixes of several Beatles’ tracks. Also engaged are element interrelations, recording’s interconnections with music and lyrics, and form and structure.
