ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts covered in the third part of this book. The third part of the book provides insight in the transition process by presenting an overview of key research topics regarding the transition from higher education to work. It focuses on the requirements of the labour market for higher education graduates. The book also focuses on the personal resources of graduates, by concentrating on the academic competences graduates possess at the time of graduation. It investigates the educational support of the learning environment. The book clarifies how knowledge work competences can be nurtured through providing educational support. The transition from higher education to the labour market involves a shift from one context to another – mostly unknown – context. The career perspective of graduates is considered by taking a deeper look into the confidence graduates have in becoming successful in working life.
