ABSTRACT

This chapter explores ways to activate the body, to awaken the listener, to energize Shakespeare's language, to expand the world of the fiction, and to develop and play the Shakespeare "score." It considers ways to rehearse and to spark connections within the ensemble. These suggestions will heighten the actor's focus, commitment to risk, and their sense of vulnerability, as well as forging a connection between the self, the text, and the ensemble. The chapter is devoted to training and to putting Shakespeare's texts into practice. The technique is something that will help someone to memorize Shakespeare's text quickly and precisely. Study the full line of text, and when one need to test how well one have memorized it, prompt yourself with the initials-only side of the index card.
