ABSTRACT
What is a trust? The trust (or its predecessor, ‘the use’) has been an important part of English law for over 800 years. As we progress with our revision of trusts in this book, we shall see what a clever and extraordinarily useful device it has proved to be, both in commercial situations and in many aspects of our ordinary lives.
