ABSTRACT

The first three examples of this chapter are from Sakura Elementary School (pseudonym to protect the privacy of my informants) in Funabashi, which

I visited on several occasions in 2012 and 2013. I will start with a general introduction to the school and then present the three different examples of moral education lessons. Then follows another case of my own from what on a map would look like ‘the other end’ of greater Tokyo, Musashi-Koganei, and finally there are some cases described by other people, two from academic research, two from a practitioner journal concerning moral education and one in which a teacher describes her own teaching.
