ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we summarize the major findings of the first four chapters, in particular, the fundamental concepts involved in interpreter mediated communication and the Inter-Culturality Framework, which have been revisited and proposed in Chapter 1; the current understanding of Chinese language and world Englishes as well as Chinese and English speakers, intercultural pragmatics and communication practices of Chinese and English speakers, which have been defined and discussed in Chapter 2; the interpreted interaction with regards to interpreting, the role(s) of the interpreter, settings and fields through selected data of interpreted interactions in Chapter 3; and multi-perspective data analysis involving Chinese speakers, English speakers and Chinese–English interpreters, presented in Chapter 4. In addition, we explore the implications of our findings for intercultural communication and for Chinese–English interpreting.
