ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the third phase of analysis of Frank. Within a week or two of in third phase, Frank said he was feeling better. As this third phase of the analysis continued to unfold the various themes from the succeeding phases of development and with respect to male and female appeared, sometimes highlighted singly as in relief, sometimes intertwined and blended. The following week, two dreams together captured the dualism in Frank's emotional life: In the first, "The Devil, a good-looking man, is after me, trying to possess me. The second dream, which he had had in the past week, was "I'm crying because of Jenny. Since the man in the dream had something "Devil-like" about him, and Frank had come to agree that the Devil obsession had sprung from his anxieties about men, focuses on that complex of feelings not dealing, for the moment, with the triangular feature of the dream.
