ABSTRACT

Things don’t always go as planned. Hence, it’s sometimes up to the compositor to make fixes and repairs to footage so that it can be used for visual effects shots. Such paint fixes and plate repairs may require the removal of unwanted objects or unintended artifacts (scratches, lens flares, reflections, and so on). The process of paint fixing and plate repairing is so common that many compositing programs include effects and tools specifically for these tasks. In some situations, there may be no mistakes present-yet the fixing and repairing techniques may be helpful for complex shots.
