The environment: the challenge of noise and pollution

The aviation industry is expanding in line with growth forecasts. In our modern society, more passengers are demanding access to all parts of the world, and global industry is setting new parameters of source and supply that make air cargo transportation a fundamental part of modern society. Aviation, however, is under attack from the environmental lobby over the amount of carbon-based emissions it releases into the atmosphere, adding to the ‘greenhouse gas’ (GHG) effect and hastening global warming.
