ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on therapeutic and other divisions of the health care system. It describes the roles of physician assistants and clinical laboratory technologists, the job duties of emergency medical technician, paramedics, health care administrators and health information technicians. The chapter explains the differences between chiropractors and physical therapists. A chiropractor treats health problems of the neuromusculoskeletal system, which includes nerves, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones. Physical therapists help to identify and correct dysfunctions of normal body movement. The chapter explores the roles of dietitians in the health care profession and the activities of various health educators. Respiratory therapists are also known as respiratory care practitioners. They evaluate and treat patients who have breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. Medical social workers help people with their personal and family problems and relationships. A rehabilitation counselor assesses clients' abilities, needs, and eligibility for a variety of services.
