ABSTRACT
The attraction of major events to a community involves key stakeholder groups, from the sport governing body, the facility manager, relevant community interest groups, the media, politicians, government departments, and the building and construction industry, to name a few of the organisations involved. No individual or group in the community remains unaffected by the intrusion that these events bring. Understanding the how and why of attracting events into a community is of immense value to all the people involved.
