ABSTRACT

The study of political culture(s) can appear, at first glance, to be virtually infinite in the range of subjects it can be applied to and in the range of sources that can be used. Fundamentally, ‘political culture’ is about the worlds – the contexts – in which politics took place, understood in both mental and physical terms. But immediately it becomes more complicated. No singular definition is possible; political cultures need to be studied with a recognition that they were at all times plural, overlapping and subject to change.
