ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author presents the developed narradrama, a specific method in drama therapy that integrates drama, narrative, and the creative arts. He offers unique therapeutic experience to his clients, while also continuing to be a part of the ever-growing field of the creative arts therapies, narrative therapy, and the social sciences that fuel ongoing curiosity, learning, and refinement—not only within his practice, but in his body of work as a therapist. The author explores the connection of four areas as it relates to narradrama while detailing what techniques he use to optimize the affective, neural, cognitive, and behavioral benefits that can be achieved. The four areas are repetition, emotional arousal, novelty, careful focus of attention. The condition that can aid in the creation of synaptic linkages is emotional arousal, which involves the activation of thoughts and feelings that are associated with physiological or behavioral consequences. The author also explains the insights on positive change.
