ABSTRACT

This chapter describes a course that explores the relations between translation studies and the study of folklore (henceforward called folkloristics). The focus is the translation and adaptation of verbal folklore materials. The course can be offered on either the undergraduate or graduate levels, and although not every student commands proficiency in a foreign language, those who do can employ it in various activities.
