ABSTRACT

King et al. (2010) provided an excellent summary of agribusiness economics and management scholarship over the first 100 years. We build upon that work by providing a deeper synthesis of the notable studies on demand analysis and agribusiness management with the aim of informing future research. We argue that agribusiness economics and industrial organization no longer have any meaningful distinction from each other. We discuss current and future issues in this field with a particular emphasis on doctoral training and the needs of faculty and doctoral students.
