Tuesday 10 January 1956 RCA’s studio, Nashville, Tennessee. Elvis is recording for the first time away from Sam Phillips and Memphis. Scotty, Bill and drummer D. J. Fontana are there, but RCA has added its own sessionmen. The song is ‘Heartbreak Hotel’, and when the session is over, Elvis and the band go back on the road, a gruelling one-nighter tour to complete. Saturday 28 January The Dorsey Brothers TV show.
