ABSTRACT

WordPress was created and launched in 2003 by developers Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little. Essentially a Content Management System allows someone with little knowledge of any code to create and publish content online — it is the user-friendly dashboard where journalist can create posts and upload images, and the system that will then translate what journalist have uploaded into code and files stored in a database. The ability to create custom content through the WordPress interface streamlined 80% of the work which had occupied a huge amount of time for a team of some editors. A lot of companies have their own bespoke content management systems but there are more and more big players who are moving part or all of their website platform to WordPress. The Sun is one of the latest to make the move, citing the requirement to make frequent changes to its homepage as one of the main motivators for moving to the platform.
