ABSTRACT

Organizational change involves dedicating both time and resources to systemic investigation and action to address institutionalized oppression in early childhood programs. A Place for All of Us is an envisioned non-profit program that would provide early childhood education and care for children from 6 weeks to kindergarten age. A Place for All of Us would recruit and hire staff who reflect the culture and language of the children and communities to be served, who speak the languages represented in the geographic vicinity, and who have diverse able-challenges. Curriculum would be culturally and linguistically relevant and provide all children and families with images, ideas, and activities that teach about similarities and differences between people. Children, staff, and families would have opportunities to learn from and participate in the history and legacy of struggles for social justice by all groups of people. All developmental assessment would be done in the home language of the children.
