ABSTRACT
An adjective followed by the particle 地 (pronounced de) forms an adverbial modifi er. An adverbial modifi er should appear before the verb or the verbal phrase it modifi es. It can also appear before an adjective to modify the adjective. Similar structures in English can have more fl exibility in terms of word order.
