ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a unique supervision case study that discusses know-how and professional development in the context of the work carried out by a trainee in Spain with a tennis player over the course of three seasons. It considers a continuation of "The Seasoned Supervisor: Challenges, Models, and Lessons Learned", which addressed three topics around supervision in applied sport and performance psychology (ASPP) namely trainees's challenges; the Applied Learning Programs (ALP) designed to guide the supervision process and experience; and lessons learned as supervisors. The psychological approach that framed the supervision took into account two perspectives: cognitive-behavioral and coaching psychology. AV learned how to strategically use social networks and social media to share relevant information with the client, such as videos, songs, or tips, all related to ASPP content that reinforced the intervention work. The supervisor must promote progressive development of social and personal skills just as he currently does with clients.
