ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the mechanical, physical and mental skills needed to develop teacher's teaching voice. It considers a range of educational research that have done with experienced singers and actors to exemplify key approaches through which the teacher can build an effective teaching voice. The chapter concentrates the basics of breathing, air flow, air speed, production and how the teacher can better understand how the teacher can make a broader range of vocal sound. Developing voice of teachers is all about their vocal confidence. It is a natural process but it takes mindful practice. The teachers need to continue to develop their expression, communication and understanding in a natural manner that works in conjunction with their body. Like young children learning and developing their language, mistakes are irrelevant. It's all about teacher's development; focus on the journey not the destination.
