ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how teacher's voice and body language work together within the classroom. Key teaching scenarios will be explored to demonstrate how an effective teaching voice works in conjunction with teacher's body language to create a strong teaching identity. One of the most common applications will be to help the teachers to create a behaviour management strategy that is positive and affirming and not negative and confrontational. The chapter explains the relationship between mind and body. The science supports the importance of a healthy body and a healthy mind in all aspects of communication. An obvious way to maximise their emotional health is to work on reducing the stress levels associated with work and their life outside of work. A good posture is vital for the vocal delivery and body language. This is because the parts of the body that contribute to voice production are connected to many other parts of the body.
