ABSTRACT

Activists are always educating themselves—by reading, interacting, talking to the public, and constantly thinking through their goals, aims, and tactics. Education is the name of the universalizing resistance game—or at least the most important first step. The educational aim is to understand super-universalized capitalism more deeply, to grasp as fully as possible the injustice and threats to human survival that it breeds, and to create the grand universalizing strategy and tactics to transform it. A universalizing movement must ultimately come together and target the system of militarized capitalism. The universalizing project requires an understanding of the universalizing system in the public and a new politics to support it. Universalizing movements have to universalize into the electoral arena, including the parties, the elections themselves, the media that cover them, and the think tanks and "experts" brought into the public eye to help shape the conversation.
