Casas Bahia is a Brazilian retail network that off ers home appliances, electronics, furniture, and housewares. Originally founded by Samuel Klein in 1957, the Casas Bahia brand is valued at $1.2 billion in 2016 and managed by Via Retail, a division of Grupo Pão de Açúcar.2 With 745 Casas Bahia stores in 18 states, the company is Brazil’s largest non-food retail chain.3 As part of the parent company Grupo Pão de Açúcar, Casas Bahia is the fourth largest retailer by revenue in Latin America behind Wal-Mart, the French fi rm Casino, and the Chilean retailer Cencosud.4
