ABSTRACT
Moving fast enough on a grand scale requires quick decision-making that is currently out of reach in many contemporary neoliberal-oriented democratic governments. This chapter focuses on the benefits that can be harvested from aggressive actions overshadows the burden-framing characteristics of previous and current climate agreements. The Project focuses on the energy sector based on high confidence in sustainable energy transition's contribution to rapid mitigation. A body, on a par with the United Nations (UN) Security Council, called the UN Council for Climate Mitigation is established by the new accord as a formal expression of the normative and cooperative need to address the anthropogenic root causes of climate change. Implementation and achieving rapid mitigation targets, in the required scale, speed and scope, will be more challenging than getting countries to sign the Agreement. The least we can expect from the Rapid Mitigation Agreement is to have another Treaty of Versailles-like infraction happening post-Paris.
