ABSTRACT

Much of the research examining behavioral assessment and behavioral intervention practices analyzes behavior at the level of the individual student. Single-case design (SCD) methodology provides a means by which to experimentally evaluate whether the changes being observed in the behavior of an individual are a function of the intervention being conducted. Employing SCD methodology to evaluate intervention with the hope of publishing resulting data requires that researchers understand the benefits and drawbacks of the various SCDs. Researchers can increase the probability of publishing their SCD research by submitting their manuscripts to the most appropriate journal in regards to topic area, setting of research, participants involved, and the extent to which the study extends the literature. Although the major school psychology journals publish behavioral intervention studies, researchers might have greater luck publishing their behavioral research in other outlets that focus on the intervention work conducted.
