ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study about Valeriy, who is a 15-year-old adolescent who was originally diagnosed as dyslexic when he was in the third grade at the age of 9. When Valeriy was 3 years old, his mother felt he had developmental problems and needed special assistance. He was referred to a Medical Psychological Pedagogical Commission (MPPC), which included a speech therapist, a psychologist, a teacher and a physician, in order to examine his case thoroughly. Valeriy was diagnosed as language delayed and as a result he was placed in a kindergarten for children with speech problems where he was offered a specific remedial program in order to improve his phonological awareness, vocabulary and grammar. Valeriy's favorite style of learning is through lectures and reading. Valeriy added that he liked being the first to raise his hand in class and give answers to teachers' questions when he wanted to show his knowledge.
