What happens when a community withdraws?

This chapter reflects on my experience as a Māori researcher working with a Māori community group who chose to withdraw from a research project. I consider the particular challenges of researching Māori communities and the importance of relationship building as well as clarity of communication, especially when working with widely researched groups that have grown increasingly concerned about their lack of input into research processes and their expected outcomes.
