ABSTRACT
Chapter 2 explores the Internet revolution in Malaysia. The Internet was seen as risk free and had been socially and politically framed in a ‘safe period’. It emerged between 1994 and 1996 and was seen as a development which would bolster the economy and government support. The Internet is also viewed as a political threat or a political change tool because of the way in which its platforms present the news.
