ABSTRACT
The toolkit outlined in this chapter is like a Swiss Army Knife for teaching with emerging technologies. The 'essentials toolkit' includes a collection of hardware and software that one will use across the spectrum as he/she engage and participate in emerging technologies. The uses of screencasting in teaching are endless, how-to videos, lectures, an orientation or tour of an online class. They provide quick and effective visual answers to questions, and students can create screencasts to demonstrate their ability to perform online tasks or to give presentations. Designing a visually pleasing environment is an important part of teaching an online or blended class. Social media can be an excellent way to promote one of the professors' upcoming classes or a guest speaker on campus. The tools that follow will empower the professor to give his/her content a WOW factor.
