ABSTRACT

I. Introduction The conservative movement in politics remains vibrant, but does it base its arguments on traditional conservative thinkers or on localized prejudice that is designed to play on peopleÊs fears rather than on their genuine, from a philosophical point of view, conservative positions? This chapter can be construed as asking if presentday conservative political positions fall within the spirit of long-respected conservative political ideas, such as those addressed in this chapter. Now, we turn to them.
