ABSTRACT
At last atomic structure and crystal form had been connected, and further connexions were made following the discovery of X-rays, which form diffraction patterns which are a guide to structure. The diffraction of electrons from a crystal of nickel proved that they have a wave character, and was thus important in quantum physics. Crystals are not only beautiful, but have also been very significant in science.
